Let me tell you a little secret ~ I DON'T KNOW HOW TO SWIM, there I said it, I will be soon taking classes though. hehe.... But then you need not know how to swim, for Undersea Walk. Isn't that a great news?
One thing I really wanted to try out was UNDERSEA WALK, which we missed on our honeymoon to BALI. But this time I did not want to miss the opportunity and was really excited to give it a try.
After breakfast, in a coach we departed for a full day excursion to Ile Aux Cerfs, which is an emerald lagoon on the east coast. From the jetty we were taken on a speedboat to the island, where we had the day free to indulge in beach and water sports activities at our own expense.
We had already done Jet Ski and Parasailing so we, actually I wanted to try Banana Boat Ride, which was really bumpy lol..
For our next activity i.e. UnderSea Walk, we were taken to a diving platform in the middle of the sea. Upon arrival to the platform, we received a pre-departure briefing on the gear, the local marine life, on safety procedures and on the underwater walking trail.
Then, with the help of a guide, we were taken down the ladder ~ at this point of time, I really wanted to back out because I was really scared and the water was really very very cold :)
A helmet with a transparent visor was placed on our head (a special apparatus which allows normal breathing under the water). The helmet was god damn heavy and I got bruised shoulders too because of that :(
The Life Guards took us underwater and accompanied us throughout the walk to guarantee maximum safety. I was hardly being able to walk maybe because of my short height ( 5" tall ), but had fun walking between corals, seeing variety of fish, and discovering the rich sea life underwater in the crystal clear blue water of the lagoon. Also posing and feeding the fishes. It was an awesome experience.
For lunch, we went to the La Chaumière Masala Restaurant, nestled in thatched kiosk on the hillside of Ile aux Cerfs Island, which offered quite affordable, home-like contemporary Indian Vegetarian Cuisine. The restaurant is crowned by a tree-top canopy which gives a fresh atmosphere to the whole setting.

We spent rest of the day lying down, under the sun, absorbing the scenic beauty and taking funny selfies.
It was a helluva day and we had too much of fun :) BTW, I lost this cowl neck sweater from Allen Solly at the Mauritius Airport :(
